The City of American Canyon, has set the goals, pursuant to the General Plan, that the role of the City is to internally accommodate a sufficient range of uses to support the needs of a growing residential population. The City should be a center of employment and commerce for regional, as well as local residents and will provide an opportunity to capitalize upon the cluster of uses, which have developed within the City. Specifically, the Green Island Industrial Park area, the proximity of the City to the Napa County Airport and California Northern Railroad, and the relationship of the City to the agricultural and vineyard industries of Napa County.
In recent years there have been 2,000 new, single-family homes approved and built with several hundred more now under construction; we have built out our industrial park and added approximately 350 additional acres of new prime industrial land for development; new office and retail projects have been built along the Broadway, Highway 29 corridor including Canyon Plaza, the American Canyon Marketplace with new commercial projects underway including Canyon Corners, Cabernet Village, Palby's Junction and "Napa Junction- Main Street" a 40-acre mixed use project that will be open for business in 2006. These new commercial entities will provide products and services to the residents of American Canyon that were previously unavailable. Excellent business opportunities still exist in the city along Broadway, Highway 29 corridor that has easy access from Marin and Solano Counties as well as Central Napa Valley. Also new on Broadway is the Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotel and opening in early 2006 will be the environmentally friendly Gaia Napa Valley Hotel. |
The City is currently undergoing a major planning effort to maximize the value of our remaining undeveloped areas. This includes 350 acres in the Oat Hill area (primarily residential and recreational) and 100 acres for a future Town Center (retail, residential and offices). We are also embarking on a revision to our General Plan.
These new residential and commercial projects have paved the way to ensure the community has the necessary goods and services to provide a high quality of life for the residents and visitors alike along the Broadway, Highway 29 Corridor, in our expanding industrial park and in the future Town Center. |
