ac-high-schoolThe City is part of the Napa Valley Unified School District. There are three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school in town.

American Canyon High School opened in the Fall of 2012 and provides a 21st Century learning environment centered on the core values of Relevance and Achievement. They offer instructional programs that support their core values. Students work in a one-to-one laptop computer environment that centers on project based learning as the framework for integrated and collaborative learning for all students. The school is the first in the nation to complete the certification process of the Collaborative for High Performance Schools, a green compliance standard.

Napa Valley College is approximately 6 miles north and Solano Community College is 15 miles east in Fairfield. NVC is establishing a South County Center to be housed at the American Canyon High School. Pacific Union College has a degree completion campus 4 miles north of town. UC Berkeley, UC Davis, and Sonoma State Universities are all within an hours drive.
